Bangkok itself is like any other large city...an urban sprawl. For example, you could visit the third largest mall in the world, if that excites your pocket. It is Thailand and currency rates are favorable, so a lot of "bang"(-kok) for your buck.
The palaces are not to be miss, but these take a day or two. You can find info a plenty on these elsewhere online.
One coffee spot we thoroughly enjoyed (and stumbled across) was the oqposite. Tucked away inside residential buildings, a step inside of here makes for a little oasis from the heat and noise outside. The location of the oqposite is not even on a main road.
Despite being a coffee shop in Thailand, prices are what you would expect in the states however your choice of drink or food comes with presentation. Of course the foam of our coffee came with the decor one would expect, but our brownie also came on the back of this little guy. Sugar as well came in an bottle with a dropper top. We were delightfully surprised with every order.
I'm sure there is an unspoken playbook for opening a coffee shop these days and the first chapter is on making everything "Instagramable". (Step 1: Put up a neon sign with a life quote.) The oqposite likely found a copy and only read the good parts. I've already describe their aesthetic as an "oasis" (and maybe this is because we wanted a little taste of home) though to drive the point home, I did catch the girls in the act of curating posts.
Needless to say, we visited the oqposite multiple times during our Bangkok stay. Find this little spot the next time Thailand calls.
